The History of Seiko Watches
The history of Seiko is fascinating and dates back to 1881. The original name was called "K. Hattori"; it was a watch and jewellery company, in Tokyo, Japan. In 1917, the company became incorporated and named, "K. Hattori and Company Limited. In 1892, they added clocks to their inventory under a different name, called Seikosha.
In 1969, Seiko came out with the Astron Quartz watch. This was the first quartz watch ever made. Seiko set the standards for revolutionizing the development of advanced watch, and clock making. In 1983, the company changed names again, and called, "Hattori Seiko Company Limited. Seiko has two watch making studios with a total of 240 specially trained craftsmen, which includes 19 master craftsmen.
