You have a choice. You have a choice to finish small projects that make you small money, or finish big projects that make you big money.
It doesn't seem like much of a choice to make, but the majority of entrepreneurs choose to do small tasks instead of big tasks - even though small projects make far less money than big ones.
Is it because the majority of entrepreneurs are lazy? Is it because they don't know how? Is it because they're scared?
No, no, and no! As entrepreneurs, we are certainly not lazy; and in fact we are over-achievers, not under-achievers. We laugh at "lack of knowledge" thinking; we are constantly learning and growing, and if we don't know how to do something, we learn very quickly. And we are not scared. In fact, we search out big projects, we go after the big fish, and we live, eat, and breathe big challenges.
So why on earth do most entrepreneurs finish small tasks and not big projects? It's because they don't know how to "create space" in their life and schedule to get their big projects done.
Personally, I've written and published 6 books in the past 6 months. I don't say that to brag or impress you. I say it to impress upon you, you can do the same and more!
It's your choice. The only difference between us is that I know "The Secret Weapon" to make time in my life, to get my big projects done. That's all.
So here's "The Secret Weapon" I use on a daily basis to get more done in less time and how you can do the same:
Time Blocking
Time blocking is when you block out chunks of time during your week to do specific activities.
For example, when I first started writing books, I wrote for two hours every Wednesday. No appointments during those hours. Just writing.
As I got more done and became more comfortable with time blocking, I moved the amount of time from two hours to six hours. Again, during that time I wrote - and nothing else!
Was it easy at first? No.
But with a little persistence and a lot of focus I was able to block out the time I needed to get my big projects done.
Now, this time cannot be interrupted with cell phones, Trios, or "Crackberries." It is time that must be used for creativity and productivity.
Here's how you can get started:
1. Choose a big project you want to get done.
2. Take out your schedule and block out the amount of time you want to dedicate to this activity. Start with 1-2 hours a week and add more time as you get more comfortable.
3. Make a commitment to yourself to NEVER give this time to anyone or anything else. This is your time to take action with no interruptions or distractions.
So there you have it. "The Secret Weapon" I use every day to help me get my projects done fast. I know this sounds simplistic, but don't let that fool you. Take action now with these steps and get your big projects done fast too!

In the story when Sandler first meets his "fair maiden" (who can't stand him at first), she comments that his hair looks goofy. Then, Sandler says, "Goofy is the new handsome." Well, with respect to Sandler and the movie, I'm going to change it up a little to fit the context of our conversation today. My new phrase is, "Failing is the New Cool."
