Many people have a visible aversion towards ticket brokers. The reason is that they consider ticket brokers some kind of scams whose main purpose is that of ripping people off and making huge profits on naïve’s expense. What they do not take into consideration is that ticket brokering is just a business like any other. Think about the local shop from where you buy your food. They buy their products cheaper and they sell it charging an additional fee for bringing it closer to you and you do not consider them scams. So why should a ticket broker be a scam?
Because ticket brokering is a business, a competition when only the fittest survives, ticket brokers must do whatever it takes to earn some money and still stay on the market. Basically they function by the rule of demand and supply, common to all the other types of businesses.
This is why, when an important event is coming soon and people are asking desperately for tickets to that even, you can be sure that the prices will go ballistic. Ticket brokers feel people’s weakness for a certain singer, actor or sportsman and take advantage of it. And why should they not? In fact I think all of us will do the same.
However, when an even who seemed to gather a lot of people does not sell very well, ticket brokers will diminish the price of tickets so that they will not lose their investment. It is quite bad for a ticket broker to be left with tickets for an event, so they will probably try to sell them at all costs. Now, it is the time for customers to enjoy good prices.
Ticket brokering is a business, a trade where tickets are sold above their face value and sometimes below their face value. All in this business is relative and depends on the number of people wanting a ticket. When there are more than one potential buyer for the same ticket the price will go higher, if there are less than one the price will go down. If fact, this is how our entire economy functions, so what is all the fuss about?
