Turn Your Scanner And Printer Into A Photocopier

Posted: Feb 07, 2011 |Comments: 0 |

So you are running your home based business and you want to better utilize the machines you have access to. You want to use your scanner/printer to copy documents and act as a photocopier. Well of course this is possible, and there are software programs available that will allow you to just that.

If you have the need for a photocopier to copy documents, drawings or anything else, then you can configure your scanner/printer to work as a good photocopier would. One such program that is actually Freeware is iCopy, also known as iCarbon. This product is completely portable in the sense that it can be stored and accessed via any USB drive. Just save it to your zip drive and take it wherever you need to go.

Looking at the developer's site, the product was last updated in October of 2010. This programmer is a student and clearly does not work on iCopy full time, but generally he has achieved a simple software application, that allows the user to use your scanner and printer as a photocopier, at the click of a button. You can even use the iCopy product by clicking a button on your scanner. You can adjust the coloration and sharpness in a matter of seconds.

Another software program that will convert your scanner and printer into a photocopier is Meusesoft Copying Machine. This product was last updated in August 2010 with a bug fix. This program is around the fifteen dollars mark, and has received some very good reviews. This one lets you san and print in one single step. This means that you can effectively scan a document, and as you scan it, an exact copy is being printed by the printer, turning your two machines into a single photocopier, with a couple of extra features.

With this type of software and equipment, you can easily save your documents as images and then copy them again in the future without physically scanning them through the system. This means that the actual paper documents can be safely stored and uninterrupted, instead of someone needing continued access to them. This system would also allow you to focus on a specific area of the document or image and enhance that area for copying. Exporting as TIFF format and other benefits are associated with using your scanner and printer as a one step photocopying center.

Not only are there benefits in the system itself, but the savings you can realize by using good free software to turn your scanner and printer into a photocopier. The cost of a photocopier, leasing or purchasing, is high. Some of these copiers can cost in excess of twenty thousand dollars, and that's a lot of money. Then of course there is the ongoing cost of consumables, more working parts, etc. Okay so with the conversion of your scanner to a photocopier there are still going to be consumable costs, but they won't be as much as a specially designed piece of equipment.

If you have a scanner/printer now and you need a photocopier, this concept of turning your scanner and printer into a photocopier, using purpose designed software may be the answer you have been searching. Between the Freeware, Shareware and Commercially branded software available there is something to suit almost every situation.
