Online business directories are a newer version of our traditional yellow pages so they are actually based on the concept of yellow pages but having said that, online business directories have many more components that make them far better when compared to the printed ones.

Online business directories are being used now days for local businesses especially where business owners list their business and people search their required services and products on good business directories and contact the businesses.

There are two basic types of business directories:

1. B2C business directory

2. B2B business directory

Although they do have some difference amongst them but their basic components remain the same and are shared by both of the types. In order for you to effectively use a business directory for your business you need to know about their basic components or the most promising components. Here they are:

Trade leads are by far the most attractive component of an online business directory. Trade leads would mean the space in the directory for posting. The good thing about them is that both buyers and sellers can post trade leads in a b2b business directory. Buyer leads will be posted by users who wish to purchase specific items or products. They will post their lead and the seller can contact them. Similarly sellers will post their sell leads at these directories.

Product Catalogs

Online business directories have unlimited space for products. Sellers can post their product details which the buyers can browse through. Unlike the printed business directory, online business directories have unlimited space for any sellers products so they can add as much as they want, while printed directories have only a small space available.

Search Tools

The one reason online business directories are very easy to use is the search tools that are available. All you need to do is enter the product you require and you will get it on your screen within seconds. Imagine how difficult it could be to search for a particular product in a printed directory with a thousand pages.

Finally, online business directories provide great support to both buyers and sellers. Online business directories can bridge the gap between buyers and sellers and can make your business grow quickly.
