Promotional products are products that have the logo or the name of a company along with other information like the web site or the address. The classic promotional items are the tote bag, the calendars, the pens, the key chains, the magnets and the mugs. However since novelty and being different and stand out count a lot in the world of advertising, new promotional items appeared. Some of these items are items for personal use like first aid kits or pill boxes; others are lunch boxes, roadster mugs or other things related to eating and drinking.
For the companies giving out promotional products is essential for their business. Apart from giving something free to their customer who will be pleased for getting a freebie, the company is also getting advertised. The degree of advertising the name and the logo of the company depends on the promotional items handed out. Choosing the best promotional item depends on the budget the company allocates for the promotion. Thus if the company opts for smaller items like key chains, pens or pocket calendars, the business will be advertised only to the people that actually receive the promotion items. If the company chooses bigger and thus more visible items like tote bags, t-shirt, caps, wall calendars or car stickers, the advertising will be extended not only to the receiver of the new promotional items, but other people who view them as well.
Promotional products are usually given out at trade shows, workshops or conventions. However depending on the type of business they can be handed out at different occasions. For example a clothing store might choose to give out new promotional items at every new collection the store launches. On the contrary a bigger and more recognized company might only choose to hand out promotional items only when they organize big events or during big holidays like Christmas or Thanksgiving. The person that receives promotional products doesn’t mind advertising a business by using its promotional items as long as these items are useful. This is one of the reasons the most appreciated promotional items are the wearable ones like t-shirts or bags or the useful ones like the coffee mugs or the calendars.
While a company needs these kinds of promotional items to advertise itself, the receivers like to have things that they can get for free, use for a period of while or things that come in a limited edition and can become collectibles. If a company’s name and logo are widely recognized they do not have to put all the information on a product. They can choose to put the name or lately the web site only or just the logo. For example most of the people can match the big sport shoes companies and their logos. However if your company is a new one or not so recognized on the market, you should choose a product that advertises the company as much as possible so that the receiver of the product can have all the important info in one place.

Are you aware of how manufacturers downsize some products while charging more?? I always buy the small 'fun size' candy bars, Snickers, Milky Way, etc....just this week I got Milky Way fun size, and the amount of ounces on the package was less than 5 oz., where before it was 6 1/2!!! and the bars are definitely much smaller!! it takes two of the new size to equal one of the older size!! ah, inflation!!!!!!!! anyone else have a similar experience with other products????
