Why You Need to Narrow Down Who You are Learning From Right Now

I want you to narrow down who you learn from. Write that down. This was a big epiphany for me. Narrow down who you learn from.

About six months ago, I completely overhauled my business, my personal life, and my overall strategy. This one lesson really taught me where a lot of my problems were lying, and I was trying to learn from too many people.

The reason it’s a problem is because everybody has their own strategy. The reason Guru A does really well in his business is because Guru A follows his strategies.

The reason Guru B does really well in his business is because Guru B follows his strategies.

Same with Guru C. Same with all these guys.

The problem for us ordinary folk is we try to learn from all these people and all of their strategies are great BUT they’re all different.

It’s like an elastic band; you’re getting pulled left, right, and center, up and down and all around. Man! Once you start focusing on who you learn from, you start to learn their mindset, their strategies, and you start to master their method of marketing. That is when you start to see progress like the big guys.

I am nowhere near the big guys, but I am starting to see progress. Boy, does it feel good. And it’s because I’ve started to focus on who I’m learning from, and I’ve started to zero in on their marketing strategies, and I’ve started to implement their marketing strategies in the way that they tell me to.

The truth of the matter is, these guys are telling you the God’s honest truth and the sales figures that they’re earning in their sales letters, with their products and so forth.

But the problem is, to us it seems so unrealistic because we get pulled in so many different directions. The reason they’re having so much success is because they’re so focused and their strategies are aligned in an overall plan that is always focused on them and their ideas and their strategies and their marketing concepts. You’ve got to narrow down who you learn from.

Then what I do is I set aside time to consume the information from the people I want to learn from.

For example, I pay to be part of a group that does website critiques every month. They basically tackle an average person’s online sales letter, and then they just pick it apart. They tear it apart and they tell and they share with that person what they need to do to turn that website in to a money making selling machine.

I was one of their case studies one month, and we’re still tweaking the changes for that sales letter, and it was over two months ago. This is how in depth they go.

What I do is I take a day after their critique calls and I listen to the audio again. I take notes on what action steps that I’m going to do to implement the ideas shared on those calls to my websites.

I set aside an entire day. In fact, now that I’ve hired an employee and he has started to work with me on that. We both sit down, we listen to the calls, we take notes, and we write down action steps that we need to do on all of the websites that we manage, based on the new ideas and the new strategies that we learned from that call.

Another thing I do is I set aside two hours a week to read. That doesn’t sound like much. Two hours a week. Not two hours a day. Two hours a week. But I go in those intense bursts and I read a lot more during that time. I consume a lot more. I comprehend a lot more. And the things I read are books. I just bought two new books.

Once you focus on who you are learning from you can spend more time learning methods you want to use, less time focusing on strategies that are pulling you in two different directions and perhaps the most important; more time IMPLEMENTING.

If I could give you one piece of advice today, it would be to select and narrow down who you are learning from right away and the results will speak for themselves.
