Will FMCG Sales Jobs pick up after the recession?

Industries all across the board are still on rocky footing emmerging from the recession, but fast moving consumer goods seem to be increasing stronly. The number of sales jobs are increasing but still at a slightly lower rate than pre-recession. It would be a good idea for anyone who is interested in this type of career to pursue it, there is definitely a possibility to find some job security in this field. Everyone needs consumable products to survive and no matter how bad the economy is these are needed services. Consumer spending on FMCG products dropped during the recession but are in the process of returning to normal levels.

However, there are still numerous problems in this industry that will take time to iron themselves out on a global scale. There are significant problems related to dairy products in Europe and there is still volatility in this area like America as well. Regardless of the current instability things are on track to getting back on track and is a strong industry when it comes to job security. FMCG sales jobs are always available in this industry if you are willing to work on commission only. It does not cost any particular employer anything to allow you to work for them unless they are required to pay you a salary or hourly wage on top of your commission.

For job seekers who wish to enter this arena, it is recommended to seek out a job that is commission only to begin with. Most of the positions that offer salary or hourly wages for this type of position have applicants who already have a good amount of experience in this field. Of course having an adequate college degree for this type of work will increase your chances significantly, but not all people who wish to obtain FMCG sales jobs have acquired education. This is an interesting field because working for an employer who sells sugar or tobacco can have vastly different employment requirements than an employer who focuses on fruits and vegetables.

There are a number of different paths one can take when pursuing one of the FMCG sales jobs. Each alternate product can potentially require a drastically different sales approach and it is important to know everything about the product possible. This is an extremely profitable market if you can manage to sell a sizable volume of product. The profit on each individual item is relatively small compared to other kinds of products but on the other hand you can sell the same products to the same customers for long periods of time.

Consumables need to constantly be replaced so there really is no possibility of this market completely collapsing. If you are already knowledgeable in this field and are concerned about the chances of finding a good job there is no need to worry. Vacancies in this market are still in high demand and there is plenty of room for entry level employees as well.
