 If you are in business then you are required to go through management training and an in-depth sales training for you to make it in sales. Effective leadership involves getting your own mentor who has some coaching skills if you want to be successful. In some cases what you should do is to identify and duplicate what someone else who has been successful in your chosen field has done to be successful. Period! This also applies to sales and marketing. People leadership involves giving the best interests of people paramount consideration at all times.

 Here are the seven keys to highly effective leadership in marketing and sales…

If you want to be successful in sales and marketing you need to understand the following seven secrets to highly effective leadership in sales and marketing:

  1.  People follow leaders and not what they are selling. It's not about your product what matters nor your service but it is about you as a leader. It's also about your "why". Tell people why you do what you do and they will be interested to join you or you will be able to convert your leads. It's about how you relate to your customer and their perceptions about you that matters most.
  2.  Help solve people's problems. Do you offer something that will help people solve their pressing needs or problems? Sales and marketing involves relationship building if you are to enjoy residual income for some years to come. Take good care of customers or your prospects and everything will take care of itself. The future will be bright for you and you'll have a guaranteed positive future.
  3. Avoid empty promises if you want to make long term relationships with your customers. An empty promise to a customer is cast in stone. If you over-promise just to get an order today, then you might make money today but you'll certainly be poor for the rest of your life because as earlier stated customers will hate you for life..
  4. Never ever lie to your customer. It's important maintain truth at all times and to apologize where you have made a mistake to a customer because this is a black and white issue, not a grey area. Even half truths are lies so always stick to the truth. Customers will find out if they have been lied to, they always do. Be cautioned that once a customer suspects that you've lied, he'll never believe a word you say again.
  5. The reasons why you have two ears and one mouth is because you have to listen at least four times as much as you talk. As earlier stated, selling is all about providing a solution to the customer's problem. It will therefore be difficult for you to find out what the problem is if you are the one who is doing the talking most of the time.
  6. Be positive and optimistic that things will be okay all the time. It pays to be positive about your business even when you find that things are wrong. Your role should be to fix the problem once and for all. When you do that you are poised for better future because customers are likely to benefit from those improvements in better service delivery.
  7. The process of sales is all about relationship building. As such, success in sales is largely based on knowing when and how to work with your customers or prospects. Authentic leadership involves knowing how to collaborate with others when things go wrong in the business. Good business leadership is all about making the decision to be a true leader and replicating what other leaders you cherish have done to be successful. "Success leaves traits", that is what we know and it will always be regardless of who you are or where you are in the world.

 Follow the footsteps of successful leaders and watch how your results will grow into leaps and bounds for you to enjoy the fruits of success. You need to have highly effective habits of leadership to be able to make it in the business of sales and marketing.
