7 Tips On How Successful People Write Thank You Cards

Thank you cards are pretty much the gold standard when it comes to relationships in business and friendships between family and friends.Sometimes people do things that are nice and generous to others. In business, these gestures are often done for nothing more than goodwill and go unrewarded. There are 7 tips of getting into the routine of writing "handwritten" thank you notes. If, however, you write chicken scratch, have someone write it for you but make sure it matches you as a man or woman. You don't want to send bubble letters to a business associate. These 7 tips on how successful people write thank you cards should be a great way to get started.

Tip 1: Remember The Dialogue You Had With The Other Person.

During your talk, event, or meeting, the other person talks with certain language patterns. Don't worry, we are not getting into psychology 101 here, what I am saying is the words they use and how they use it. For example, if this is someone you met for the first time, you catch know right away their voice tone, how fast or slow they speak, and whether they talk the "lingo" of your business.

Tip 2: Use Words They Used When You First Met Them

This is not to minipulate the other person. Rather, it's simply to get on the same page. When someone else sounds like you when you talk, immediately you become either attracted to what they are saying or you listen more attentively. If they use buzz words like "What's Your Twitter Strategy" or "Have You Created Your FBSLP (Facebook Static Landing Page). Then, you take these words and apply them to your thank you card.


Tip 3: Write Some Sort of Headline

This isn't a sales letter. What I mean by headline is something that they will remember immediately from your discussion. A great headline is the first three to four words after the name greeting is to say, " ADDED 56 PEOPLE BECAUSE OF YOUR TWITTER RECOMMENDATION - NICE!". It doesn't have to be so business everytime, just something they know you talked about, but not necessarily know how important it was to you, though.

Tip 4: Always Add Your Name After The Headline

There is nothing worst than racking your brain to try and figure out who a note is from. Easy fix. Just say, "Hey, It's Mike Wanner, the guy from Firefox, Inc. the web browswer company, or the short good looking guy!. Here, you need to know whether you can add the second line if you are good looking. If you were meeting over drinks, it would be ok and if you bonded a little, if not, leave it out.

Tip 5: Write by hand.

A hand written note is always seen as you took the time to think, write and put me on your list of to do's. We all waste time and when you see someone take the time to do this, it works in remembering you and seeing that you take the time to remember them. It is easy to just whip up a note on Word but it takes some skill to write a good one by hand.

Tip 6: Send It A Few Days After You Meet

It is always better to send and receive a note late than not at all. But make sure you don't send it too early or it will seem llike it's a 'routine' for you and not something that was personalized just for your business friend.

Tip 7: Use An Unexpecting Thank You Card

If you are going to bother thanking someone, put enough pride and emotion into it to use a new piece of paper. But go a little further. Try looking at some fun or whimsy card if it fits with the other person's personality or go a ltitle more serious. For guys, this might be better off giving to a lady friend, girlfriend or wife.
