Advantages of Owning Your Own Product vs Promoting Affiliate Products
Everyone knows there is damn good money to be made by promoting other people's products, herein referred to as OPP's, however, what you don't know, or what you may not realize, is that it can be so much more beneficial to actually own and sell your own products.
The types of products I will be discussing are digital products. Digital products are those that can be digitally obtained or accessed such as eBooks, reports, software, music or video files and graphic related products such as images or website templates.
The 2 product types that sell the best are software, of course, and information products, such as ebooks, reports or video tutorials.
Years ago, to create your own product, you must have had the technical knowledge and know how. Now a days, however, this is simply not true!
More and more people are taking advantage of what is known as PLR, private label rights, and brandable software.
The nice thing about PLR is that you gain complete ownership of the product once you have purchased it. The downside, however, is that for PLR based software and videos, unless you know exactly what you are doing, there really isn't much you can do in the way of changing the elements, or contents, to completely make the product your own.
For this reason alone, I much prefer brandable software. Let me explain why:
- Brandable software is usually many times cheaper to obtain since you are not actually receiving the source code.
- Brandable software, if done properly, enables to change almost every aspect, without ever having to touch a single line of code.
- Brandable software product sort of force you to create your own UNIQUE sales material since most companies which offer brandable software do not include sales pages, or when they do, they do so for a small additional fee, but, then this way, you're guaranteed a unique sales page which is only available to you.
- Most brandable software is usually quicker to set up since you are usually given some sort of "Point-N-Click" brander app which enables you to change certain elements using nothing more than a few keystrokes (for such things as typing in the products new name, or embedding your own links and email addresses) and a mouse to select different options for various elements.
- Brandable software is easier to create updated versions for your customers, again, since the majority of changes are made via "point-n-click" elements.
- Most brandable software applications are also "PLR" in that you can apply your own name, place your own "powered/presented by" links within the software as well as include your own company name, website address and support contact details, making it appear as if you are the actual creator of the product.
- Companies which provide with brandable software applications are the folks who get to deal with the hassles of bugs and actual updates.
- In addition, most brandable software comes with text based manuals which you can develop into your own version, again, adding your own touches and elements (links, addresses, contact details, etc.) thereby making it, once again, appear as your own product.
Don't get me wrong, PLR is great in many of the way mentioned above, however, unless you know the actual language the software creator used to create the software, how much can you really do with a PLR software application. Brandable apps are much less expensive and have the same, if not more of, the benefits as Private Labeled Rights products.
