Marshall Crum is a 25 year safety professional who enjoys writing articles about self-improvement and other items of interest from a personal perspective. He has compiled a lot information on his website> that will be of interest to people who are retired or contemplating retirement.
Many Americans retire and then return to work. I've known many retirees who returned to work. Some out of necessity and several who just got tired of sitting in a chair. I guess having all the time in the world to do anything you want can get boring. Figuring out what to do with all that spare time is difficult. Most retirees have a wealth of knowledge and experience that can be leveraged into a substantial income stream, if they can figure out how to use what they have. People who stay active seem to enjoy retirement the most. Some retirees become consultants, others start a business or just travel. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to do all of those and generate enough extra retirement income so the standard of living doesn't change??
I want to retire in a few years, and I've started working to make retirement successful for my wife and me. Like most people of my generation I've worked for so long, it's hard to imagine a time when I don't have to. I've changed careers several times and I'm looking at retirement as another career path. My idea of a successful retirement is to have enough retirement income without worrying about running out of money and be able to work or write articles or travel.
Given todays economic climate, It may become necessary to find some source of retirement income. Most of the experts advise finding something you're passionate about (work or a hobby) and working on that to create extra retirement income. I'm a safety professional and I'm finding it difficult to identify other areas that I'm comfortable in. I like to help people, do research and conduct training. One thing I've done is create a website.. retirement page ..to help me keep focused on preparing for life after work. It'll be fun and the information and the links I put on it may be useful to other people who have questions about retirement or life after work.
