Newer vistas of careers are being opened every day. Gone are the days when , one had to limit one self to a career choice between bureaucracy, Engineering or Medical profession. Today there are thousands of career opportunities for the discerning candidates.With the firm establishment of IT-Information Technology as the most promising avenue in the last decade or so, career aspirants have taken to IT as bees to honey. Today millions of young IT professionals are employed in India and abroad in IT field. But IT offers thousands of divergent jobs- as diverse as cheese and chalk. IT brought in its wake new sectors like Outsourcing (BPO) ,Telemarketing and Call Centres. All these found aspirants from India because of the superabundance of trained young IT professionals in this country.

The lure of the dollar and the dream of a super-luxurious lifestyle, prompted many a young IT professional to seek greener pastures in fields other than software development and outsourcing. But as Call Centres gradually established themselves firmly in this country, a new breed of young professionals , christened as Voice Professionals. They were trained and equipped with the latest strategies, conversation styles and IT nuances by great companies like CISO. In fact, the CISCO Certified Voice Professional (CCVP) course has many thousands of takers throughout India through authorized training outlets. These voice professionals brought a fresh set of rules and approach to the Call Centre Operations. More and more overseas clients tied up with India-based Call Centres and many Indian Voice professionals realized their most cherished dreams when they were whisked away by top International conglomerates in their massive body shopping spree.

Voice professionals are nothing but glorified Call Centre operators. They sit glued to their headsets and computer+ telephone consoles, talking endlessly into the mouth-pieces, shift after shift , day in and day out. Tireless and continuously on their guard for business opportunities from the calling client, these Voice professionals ensured that even the casual caller was converted as a client who transacted business. The Call Centre managements too install sophisticated softwares from International giants like Avaya, Cisco and others to monitor each call individually and keep impeccable records of these calls for analysis and action. Parameters like call time spent per caller, response time to queries and customer satisfaction surveys made life difficult for these voice professionals and kept them constantly on their toes to perform to their optimum level.

To summarise Voice Professionals are adding to the attraction of India as a major IT and IT-related activities destination.
