But as with any other business, there's a hard way to go about it and a much, much easier way to do it. Tip #1: Choose Products That Have High Conversion Rates
It's way too easy to get sucked into promoting a product simply because it has a big payout. Some programs even go as high as 100% commission when you make a sale (you'll find out why in a moment). But even more important than the commission percentage is the conversion percentage. Affiliate marketing opportunities with stellar payouts are worthless if the sales pages for the products can't convert visitors. 100% of zero dollars is still zero dollars. Before you promote, contact vendors and get information on their conversion rates. Stick with programs that have high conversion rates, and dump the ones that don't.

Ask your sellers if they offer upsells at the tail end of the purchase process, and find out what their conversion rate is.
