Excuses, Excuses & What to Do About Them (2 of 4)

Most of us have no problem coming up with perfectly valid reasons for not taking action. Our excuses may possibly, temporarily make us feel better, but they do not bring any value to life. Excuses do not pay the bills, they do not solve problems, they just allow us to justify not taking action.

In this article we will look at a second list of excuses, of reasons not to take action, and turn them on their head. For every excuse, a compelling answer is offered to counteract it. The result is a list of powerful reasons for taking action now.

I'm Afraid I'll Fail
The only way to fail is to not take action. You always advance when you take action. The result could be the achievement of your goal or it could be a learning experience that will eventually bring you to the goal you desire. The bottom line is you never fail by giving it a try. Thomas Edison tried 9,999 times to perfect the light bulb and had not succeeded. Someone asked him if he was going to have 10,000 failures. Edison replied that he had not failed - but that he had just discovered another way not to invent the electric light. You never fail. You always succeed in producing results. If you don't like the results learn from your mistakes, change your strategy and make it happen. Yep, I'm Talking To You.

What would other people think
To begin with, you know the saying "you can't please everyone?". well, it's true, so stop trying. You can only do what satisfies you. You know what you need to do and you're committed to doing it. That assumption you make about what others are thinking is completely wrong in many cases. When we have an unknown variable we sometimes fill it with the worse possibilities. So you may be afraid of looking foolish for some reason while what will really make you look foolish if is you just sit around making excuses. It doesn't matter what other people think. It's
probably not what you're thinking. And if it
is ...that's their problem. Do what needs to be done. Get on with it. That's right... I'm Talking To You.

I Don't Know Where To Start
There is always something to do. There's some step that will start to move you in the direction of your goal. It's kind of like that filthy room in your house or maybe the garage. No one ever knows how it got that way and there's a mess in every corner. It really doesn't matter where you start. Go get a garbage bag, open the door and start right there. The journey of a thousand
miles begins with a single step. Take that step right now. Then take the next one and before you know it you'll have a clean house and a flourishing life. Oh yeah, I'm Talking To You.

It Will Take Too Long
If it's going to take a long time then you better get moving. It'll take even longer if you sit around moaning about how long it'll take. You know the saying "Happiness is a journey not a destination?" Well, enjoy the ride. The most fulfilling part of any accomplishment is not he finish, but the doing. The journey is the reward. If the end result suddenly appeared out of thin air, with no effort on your part... would you value it? Remember that relationship that came a little too easy? If you have to work for something you will appreciate it more. Remember
that relationship? So get started now. Start making it happen and enjoy the long, fulfilling journey. That's Right... I'm Talking To You.

It Won't Matter Anyway
You can make a difference it you choose to do so. If there's something that needs to be done, doing it will make the difference. Thinking that it won't matter is just a petty rationalization. Of course it matters. If it doesn't then find something else that does. You are a creative, effective person who is full of possibilities. The job at hand may not be the most important thing in the history of the world, but if it gets you into action, then it matters very much. No matter how small the effort or consequence, it is a start. It revs up the momentum of the intelligent, creative, productive person that you
are. And once you get going, there's no telling how much you can accomplish. It all starts with taking action. Don't hide behind the thinking that it won't matter. Jump in and get started.
It does matter. Do It Now. Yep, I'm Talking To You.
