How To Select a Legitimate Home Typist Company

I have been working with several home typist companies for several years and have amassed tens of thousands of dollars in this field.  I have worked with http://www.typeathome.com, type-at-home.info, typeinternational.com and typesystems.com, freelancer.com and a few others. 

The key to selecting a legitimate company is to determine exactly what type of home typing you would like to do.  If you want to type articles, reviews of other websites, and get paid to bookmark sites, then I highly recommend checking out http://www.typeathome.com.  This site pays it home typists every friday and offers these types of assignments in varying degrees.  In other words, when you register, you determine how large your assignments by how much time you can spend.  Part timers get up to $45 an assignment, full timers get up to $75 per assignment and business owners get up to $175 per assignment. The one thing I need to clarify about this company and most of these companies, they do require a fee to get started.  The fee is one time and if you plan to do this more than one month, it' no big deal.  You basically make it all back on your first assignment.  This company explains on their site video that they charge the fee to offset the cost of marketing for the assignments and editing the assignments.  They also indicate that they are not an employment agency, thus their are not hiring you as an employee, they are offering an opportunity for your to earn as a subcontractor thus it is a  business opportunity not an employment opportunity.  I kind of see their point, if they were employing you, they require you to punch a time clock and work set hours.  The fee didn't bother me because I paid way more for business opportunites that never paid me a single penny.  This is one of the few companies that I like and recommend.

Now if you want to pursue a career in referral marketing, select  type-at-home.info.  It's primarily typing ads all over the internet promoting the same type of service, typing ads.  I'm not sure if I would catergorize this as legitimate, except for the fact that if you let others know exactly what it is upfront, then you are ethically promoting it and it then becomes legitimate.   The problem with the site is that it doesn't disclose that you will need to pay companies to advertise your ads.  They do tell you that you will need to fill out PPC ads, but if you don't know what PPC is, they you assume it doesn't have a cost associated with it.  They do have some free advertisements for you to post to but the primary method is to us PPC or Pay Per Click advertising to generate your revenue.  This is definitely not for everyone. The site also doesn't tell you to disclose that you will need to pay for advertising when you post your ads.  That's the part that keeps me from recommending this company.

Another form of referral marketing is to select select a company that bundles several opportunities into one and uses free advertsing to market their service.  This company is Type International.   Similar to the referral company mentioned above, you will be promoting their site or their list of sites, but you will be posting to several different types of marketing companies.  You'll be using traffic exchange sites, list builder sites, search engine posting sites and of course a few PPC sites.  Although the paid advertising is not pushed as heavily, they do make reference to it and imply that if you want to make really big money, you'll select that option.  Here's the thing, after you pay your one time fee, you can either make money with PTC - pay to click sites (small return) or advertising their services with lots of ad postings.  Again if you promote them, I recommend being up front about what people will be getting into, because the site tends to cloak the exact amount you'll be making.  It's not upfront about exactly how much you earn if you do the work.  The reason is because they have some many different opportunities on their site and all of them offer a different earnings figures.  Also they make claims like "earn $300-$900 per week."  Never seen a $300 week or a $900 week with this company.   

If you are great at typing detailed writing assignment then you may be interested in doing some freelance work.  Check out this site Freelancer.com They offer legitimate typing assignments for people to do at home.  I do like this site, because they tell you upfront exactly how much the assignments pay, what kind of typing work you will be doing and how & when you will be paid.  Now some of the assignment are challenging and require very accurate typing.  You will also have to generally have some knowledge about the subject that they offer. For example if you select an assignment to type a particular computer program, you should have knowledge about the program.  It will be obvious if you don't and you won't get paid.  They do have basic, beginner type of assignments, but you must research and find them.  The only challenging part about this field is that it is not something that you can really count on every day like a job.  You usually have to compete with other members to get the position.  It's a bidding war on the site.  Typically the person who bids the lowest wins, however if you have a good track record on the site, your reputation can put you higher than the lower bidder.  You really have to see it to understand how it works.  The nice thing however is that if you can check it out and register for free.
