My Journey From Employee to Entrepreneur and How it Changed Me Forever

I spent 30 years working for a heavy equipment dealer.  It was the only way I knew how to make money.  I became addicted to the weekly paycheck.  I sometimes felt that I was not very different from a prostitute; I was selling my services by the hour.

One midnight I woke up soaked in sweat and feeling sick to my stomach.  I realized that I had spent 30 years of my life going nowhere and I had no desire to continue doing the same thing for another 15 to 20 years.  Maybe it was a midlife crisis.  I had just turned 50 years old.  I had a high school diploma, but no college degree and I certainly wasn't well equipped to compete with younger and more highly educated men, especially during an economic recession.

What in the world was I going to do?  I knew that I was intelligent and had some abilities, but I did not know how to profit from them.  I needed to change my entire life and it scared the hell out of me.

I started looking at help wanted ads on Craig's List.  I figured that companies are always looking for some kind of sales help.  After looking around for a while and seeing what was available I decided that I didn't really want another job and that almost everything else on the internet was a whole lot of hype and false promises.

I realized that although there were hundreds of get rich quick schemes and so called opportunities being offered, what I needed was to develop some new skills that I could use to increase my value to society.

If any of this sounds or feels familiar to you, there are some things you need to check out before you try earning your living on the internet.  Before you get involved with any opportunities online, ask yourself a few questions.  Is there a money back guarantee?  Will there be ongoing support?  What kind of training is offered and at what cost?  Are the people I will be dealing with reputable industry leaders or fly by night profit grabbers?

In order to succeed in the highly competitive online world, I had to grow mentally, spiritually and emotionally.  I had to develop a completely new skill set.  Was it easy?  No it wasn't.  The true reward for all my efforts, for overcoming my fears and for pushing forward no matter what it took, was that I became a different person.  Selling my life by the hour is no longer acceptable to me.  Now I create wealth for my self and others.  The finest thing I can wish for you is that you will embark and continue on the same journey.

Getting The Right Partner In Business

By: Jessica Lang | 24/11/2009
Sir Winston Churchill once said something about doing business: “Some people regard private enterprise as a predatory tiger to be shot. Others look on it as a cow they can milk. Not enough people see it as a healthy horse pulling a sturdy wagon.” One of the most important, the most difficult, and even the most life-changing decisions a fledgling entrepreneur or a small business owner could make is choosing the right business partner.
