The Frustrations of Online Business Opportunities

In an economic recession with millions of people unemployed, it’s quite natural for people to look for alternative means of garnering a successful income. One of the increasing areas that people are considering is variety of internet affiliate programs, pay per click methods, social marketing, and online sales. None of these programs or methods is inherently flawed, but the individual investing their time and precious money in these endeavors must understand the challenges presented by them.

Despite the differences between them, affiliate programs, pay per click revenue, social marketing, and online sales approaches all require one essential element for them to work and generate respectable incomes. All require a considerable amount of traffic that will lead potential customers to either click on their advertisements, sign up for their mailing list, or buy something from their store.  Here in lies the challenge. Achieving high traffic can be accomplished by expensive advertising models or can be achieved through very extensive link building.

Link building is key but can require a considerable amount of effort for the desperate individual looking for income. The time required and the unpredictability of the way websites or pages are indexed can easily frustrate someone unacquainted with this.  This can lead to the assumption that the methods they are using do not work. They do in fact work, but require tremendous consistency and effort. Established businesses often use outsourcing to build the necessary back links through a variety of means. The unemployed individual typically does not have the funds to do so and must instead devote their personal time to these tasks.

The other tendency is to grow frustrated with one method and then spend additional money on another method.  To the extent that is realistically feasible, a person should investigate the methods they are considering on forums where possible. Listing two or three options and either pursuing more than one option might be a challenge for the uninitiated,  but at the very least the process of research and review may give the aspiring internet marketing a realistic sense of the time investment required to develop an alternate source of income . Charting out what options are available may allow you to better determine what strategy will likely fit your needs and help you diversify strategies.
