There are a lot of advantages that direct sales has over network marketing but there is one major one that stands out more than any of the others; the payouts.
In the direct sales industry, the products that people tend to buy are bigger ticket items than in network marketing. Usually the product price is over $1000. With the product being over $1000 the company is able to pay out more cash per sale. This is not the case in network marketing. Most of the time in MLM, people are only buying at $100 increments so the companies payout is obviously smaller.
The other thing that happens is when someone buys a product from a direct sales company, the commission goes out to 1 or 2 people, not 6+ people. This is a serious disadvantage because if the company is paying out 50% of the product value which would you rather make 25% of the product value or less than 10% of the product value. That is a big difference.
It really comes down to this. Say you make one sale with a direct sales company and you make a $1000 commission. How many times are you going to have to sell the $100 item with a 10% commission to make the $1000? You would only be getting $10 from the network marketing company so you would have to sell the product 100 times to make a $1000 commission.
So what is the major advantage, it’s more than just the payout; it’s the amount of time you would have to spend to make the same amount of money. Now that is big.
