Why Are You Still Working At That Boring Job?

 You just sit down at your desk and it is 9am. The phone rings, you answer respond and hang up.  A supervisor stops by and tells you he needs you to complete a task by 2pm so that he will be able to present it at his big meeting in which he will make him a lot of money but there is no incentive for you.  After hearing this you are on your way to another meaningless weekly meeting from 10am-11am and all you can think about is getting this assignment completed and how irritated you are about the limited amount of time you have.  You just skipped lunch and now it is now 1pm.  You are trying to figure out a way to get four hours worth of work completed within the next 60 minutes.  With all this going on the only thing that motivates you is when five o’clock comes around so you can leave this behind for another day.  

Does this sound familiar?  There is no incentive plan to work hard and job security no longer exists in today’s workforce.  All this effort and the average household income in 2007 was just north of $40,000.  How anyone can live on that blows my mind.  Not only that but did you know that less than 2% of the population makes over $100,000.  You are worth more than what you are getting paid yet you continue to show up at 9am to the same boring job that makes you miserable.  

I’m going to make you an offer today.  Imagine that I’m going to offer you a job and will pay you $15,000 a month.  You probably want to know how soon you can start and you don’t even know what it is your will be doing.  I am going to require you to work 12-14 hours a day over the next three months.  You will probably be working six days a week during that time.  Still interested?  After three months you will be working 8-10 hours a day five days a week.  If I ask you to jump you are going ask, “how high” and like it.  Would you work for me? Remember, I’m going to pay you $180,000 a year.  You can leave your boring job that doesn’t challenge you, stresses you out, and frustrates you when you receive your paycheck.  You can finally be compensated at the level you feel you are worth.  

I have a question for you though.  Why are you willing to work 12 plus hours a day for me when you can work for yourself.  If you are willing to work that hard for someone else’s well being how much time are you willing to sacrifice for yourself?  Not only that, why limit yourself to $15,000 a month when you could be your own boss and have unlimited earnings potential.  Get yourself out of the statistic of earning an average income.  Become part of the 2% that are making over $100,000 a year.  More and more people are making the change to become an entrepreneur.  Forbes Magazine recently stated that 79 million people in North America plan to start their own business in the next 3 to 5 years.

Becoming an entrepreneur is the path that more and more people are taking.  The opportunities available are endless.  Make a change to improve your lifestyle and no longer worry about a supervisor springing a last minute assignment on you to make him significant money.  Make the income you deserve while also being able to have the time to enjoy traveling and spending more time with your family.
