Work From Home and Avoid the Traffic

Working from home sounds like it might just be the ticket to me. Your own time being able to complete your required jobs in the time you have rather than driving to the job and being forced to sit for seven and half or eight or nine hours behind a desk. So what do I need to learn to get started? Well here we can look at some of the options available and some of the most common jobs you could do working from home.

Telemarketing

Generally cold call sales promoting a particular product or service either to a provided list of potential customers or straight out of the phone book. Often you are the initial contact the actual sale or potential lead is then passed on to the person in the relevant area the caller is from and they take it from there.

Transcribing

This involves typing at reasonable speeds if you want to make any real money. You would type up written detail generally using some form of audio service. Often these can be set up easily with software and a headset however sometimes you need a suitable system for easy stop and go of the actual voice content so that you can type the information in an easy way. This can also be in the form of a tape system but would normally be related only to your local area as you would otherwise have to rely on postal services to get you the required information. There are many software packages for online services to do this however perhaps your local Doctors office or lawyer is getting behind with their reporting and you could fill a niche.

Customer Service

Working for a company anywhere in the world where you will be logged into their system and handling enquiries from their customers. Generally this relates to phone enquiries giving service to the customer regarding the products or services offered by the company and handling any concerns the customers may have.

Article Writing

Writing stories, articles or text for a variety of different sources, or one company. Skills required are adequate writing skills, ability to do a spell check and ensuring you allow the time to do the work. You could also consider writing your own novel as working from home but then of course nobody else is paying you until you can have the novel published. So if you are looking for income, stick with the articles etc., and perhaps work on the novel in your free time.

Web Design

Designing of websites is a popular work at home option. You must have a great knowledge of web design and specific programs to be able to complete the work in computer talk so this is not for the average stay at home worker it requires a little more technical knowledge. However, when you have that knowledge you could be a web design business working for one employer or freelancing for many businesses.

Graphic Design

Create digital images for such specific markets such as company logos and web site graphics for passing on to the web designer. Again you need a more than basic knowledge and use of software that is compatible with however you are working with but with the knowledge the freelance world is your oyster.

Teaching

Teaching can also easily be done from home whether it is teaching a language or a music skill or helping people with specific individual areas. Often you can set up this kind of teaching system on your own or you can work together with another language school for a cut of their income. You of course need the necessary skill level yourself before imparting your ideas on to others so some form of previous teaching training yourself is a major benefit here.

Babysitting

This does not always have to be related to after school care or for infants it could be in the form of care for an elderly or handicapped person in your home while their daytime care attendant or family member is out in the office.
