Think about why you like to go camping. Read this list and see if the main reason why you enjoy camping is here.
Getting Away
Camping lets you get away from work and the routine of home life.
Camping is a cheap holiday
If you have camping equipment the main cost is the fuel and campsite if it's not a free site, when you are at home you buy food so thats no extra cost. Usuallly you may do some sort of activity that costs money when you are at home, when you are camping there is plenty to do like walks, fishing, ball games, collecting wood for the fire, relaxing, play cards or a board game, read a book etc. for free.
Watching the Stars at Night
There’s nothing better than sitting around the campfire looking up and spotting a satellite whizzing by or finding the ‘Southern Cross’ and other constellations and stars. This makes for an extra special night when you’re in the outback and the sky is a light show.
Sunrise and Sunsets
The mornings and evenings can be an absolutely amazing sight, the colours change from yellows to pinks, oranges and sometimes an amazing glow everywhere. Some incredible photos can be taken at sunset and sunrise, it’s worth getting up early at once on your trip.
Breathe in the Fresh Air
If you live in a city you will be amazed at how fresh the air is.
Forests and Animals in their Natural Habitat Seeing the forest or the bush all lush and green, especially Rainforests is a great sight. Watching wildlife like birds, kangaroos, possums, lizards etc doing their own thing.
Campfires
Having a campfire always add to a camping trip, whether it’s for keeping warm, cooking and sitting around with a drink and telling tall stories. It’s Great!
Camping Becomes a Family Tradition
Camping has become a family tradition in some families; maybe you grew up going camping and now you are taking your kids camping and if they love camping then they will follow on.
Quality Time with Family and Friends
Camping is fun time to be with your family and friends, be casual, don’t make too many plans, if someone wants to go fishing they can, or a walk or maybe have a sleep they can. Then get together and share a great meal around the campfire.
Have your own Aussie Adventure
Wherever you are camping make it an adventure, find a new walking track, a new place to fish, when you are driving find new roads to go on, go somewhere you have not been before.
Thrifty Camping at Expensive Holiday Places
Camping doen't have to be all about seeing nature and its wonders, we have camped at the Gold Coast to keep the cost down and went to the Theme Parks etc. We did the same at Noosa, we saw all the sights without paying thousands a week for a unit. You must book well ahead to get into popular Holiday Parks.
Australia is an amazing country so see as much as you can. My family went on our first ‘Big Trip’ in 2000. After a lot of planning and preparation we left Victoria, went to Central Australia, to Darwin, Kakadu and back down through Outback Queensland and NSW.
On the very first night of our trip we stayed in a cabin and the TV showed an ad for the Charlieville Camel races in QLD, they were on about a month later, so we timed our stay in Charlieville so we could go to the Camel Races and Rodeo. One Amazing Day!! This trip took 6 weeks, about 10,000kms, cost about $1000 per week.
