Why Eight Person Camping Tents Are Worth Buying

Posted: Jan 24, 2010 |Comments: 0 |

While your old eight person camping tent can feel a bit gangly and heavy to lug around with you all the time, it's likely that you have been grateful for it more than once.  The truth is that these large beasts are more of a benefit that not, but if you're in the market for a new tent this year, you might be considering getting a smaller one.  If you are, read on to find out why you should stick with a big tent to meet all your needs and hold all your gear and campers.

Longer Camping Trips are More Comfortable

If you're going to be in your tent for a longer amount of time, then you will appreciate the extra space to spread out and make your tent a temporary home.  Did you know that some people literally live in their eight person camping tents for months out of the year?  Whether out of necessity or just a chance to get away, you will appreciate all the extra room you have to stow your gear and relax comfortably every single night.  With these tents, you can even add an inflatable mattress or cot and still be comfortable for long stays.

Space for Tag Alongs (and Your Kids)

Many of us go camping with our kids, and while the older kids might think it's fun to sleep in their own tent, little ones get frightened pretty easily.  Now, you can cram you, your spouse and three kids into a little four person tent, or you can choose on one of the large camping tents available. You will be far more comfortable and have enough space to spread out your camping gear. Plus, as mentioned before, all your gear will have to go somewhere and if you've ever slept in a small tent, you know how uncomfortable it can be to sleep with shoes in your face all night long.

Add that to the probability that you will wind up with at least one or two campers who do not have a tent of their own, but fail to tell you until you get to your destination.  No worries, you will have the extra room with your big tent and as a bonus, you can make your tag alongs carry the tent.

Easily Portable and Light Enough to Carry Comfortably

In the past, the huge eight person camping tents that were available were heavy, hard to put up and ungainly to carry, but now, you can find nice, lightweight tents that are easy to wrap up and put away and don't require a weight lifter to carry them.  This is good news for you if you love the space of a big tent but aren't so thrilled about carrying it.

Before you shoot down an eight person camping tent, think of all the benefits having one has to offer and then consider that many of these big tents cost less than ever before.  So, if you're in the market for an eight person camping tent, take the time to shop around and look at all the models in different price ranges to make sure that you get the right tent to meet your needs.
