Asbestos: A Killer in the Workplace

Posted: Mar 17, 2011 |

There is no longer any doubt.  Asbestos is a killer!  Asbestos leads to numerous diseases, and asbestos is quite deadly. Many people think asbestos is no longer used in construction and industry.  They are wrong and you need to be aware of where it is being used.

Don't get me wrong.  If you've been exposed to asbestos today, you're not going to die tonight, tomorrow or even next year.  But the truth of the matter is that if you've been exposed to deadly asbestos, if you've inhaled its deadly fibers, you can be sure that those fibers have attached themselves to your lungs.

Those asbestos fibers will irritate the cells of your lungs and internal organs.  The body doesn't like irritants that it cannot rid itself of.  Too often, cancer is the end result of foreign substances that irritate the human body.  Cancer caused by asbestos is called mesothelioma and mesothelioma is extremely deadly.

While mesothelioma is rare, it is a terribly destructive disease.  Those who have been diagnosed with mesothelioma eventually die. Catching the disease early will allow the doctors to help you prolong your life.

If you've been diagnosed with the disease, you'll need to speak with qualified mesothelioma attorneys. While an attorney cannot prolong your life, he can help you set your affairs in order to provide for your family when you are no longer able.

If you have not yet been diagnosed with the disease, you need to take precautions.  You may have thought asbestos has been banned from use in manufacturing and industry.  It has not.  Do you know what products contain asbestos?  Do you work in construction, or manufacturing?  You need to know what you're working with. You would be amazed just how much asbestos is still out there.  If you work with your hands, you need to be aware of the products used in your industry.  You need to know the products that surround your work environment.  The list of products containing asbestos is very large--too large to list here.  If you'd like to see more, you'll want to visit our website for a detailed list of asbestos containing products.
