We are surrounded by toxins. It is in our homes, on the streets, in our workplace, in the products we use and in the foods we eat.

The constant exposure to harmful toxins can lead to potential health risk such as cancers, respiratory illnesses, problems with reproductive health and so forth. Limiting exposure to chemicals takes a conscious effort.

It would be impossible for us to eliminate all toxins, but making small changes in one or more areas can help protect yourself and your family and lessen your body's toxic burden. Here are some approaches that will help decrease your toxic load:

Avoid Chemical Scents

Mainstream chemical perfumes, colognes, air fresheners  are all derived from a strong mix of synthetic ingredients such as petroleum, mineral oils, solvents, stabilizers preservatives or dyes.

Avoid Unscented Chemical Products

Just because a product is unscented, it doesn't necessarily mean the product is not toxic. Quite the contrary. Unscented chemical products are actually even more toxic, using strong masking fragrance ingredient to cover up the original smell. Many of these chemicals have been associated with hormone disruption or allergic reactions.

Avoid non-stick cookware

The absolute worst of the worst. The non stick material known as PFOA and PFOS found in all non stick cookware is a ‘human carcinogen'. Invest in quality copper-clad stainless steel pans as an alternative. It's harder to clean, but you'll feel a lot healthier.
