A service delivery manager is in charge of making client presentations regarding the services extended by the company and also ensuring the fact that the quality of the services provided are thus maintained. People in service delivery manager jobs are required to act as a vital link between the customers, the services and products offered by the company and the resources. The most important aspect of this profile is communication as the incumbent is expected to interact with the clients on a regular basis when it comes to the services provided by the company.

Service delivery managers are also appointed in IT organisations. They are responsible for ensuring the fact that the targets pertaining to the completion of projects are met well within the stipulated timeline. It is the responsibility of the manager to ensure that the proper level of service is maintained as per the SLA or the service level agreements. The position of a service delivery manager thus comes with a lot of responsibility as well as authority.

In order to be eligible for the position, you need to meet certain criteria that range from education to relevant experience in the industry. A degree in IT management, finance or even business administration may hold you in good stead. It is important to possess proper skill set that includes proper communication skills. Along with it is necessary that they should have an analytical bent of mind and an eye for detail so that even a minor error does not go unnoticed.

The job responsibilities of service deliver managers are multiple and varied. These include developing training workshops, manage clients and develop professional relationships, monitoring of SLAs or service level agreements. As manager, you would be expected to work under stringent timelines and also held accountable if the team fails to deliver the goods.   • Effectively monitoring, controlling and supporting a wide range of delivery services thus ensuring the fact that all the procedures and methodologies are followed to the core.
  • Organise training courses and workshops for team participation.
  • To see that the SLA's or the service level agreements in connection to the contracted services are maintained and achieved but at the same time maintaining the quality of the services delivered and at the same time meet client expectations, if not exceed them.
  • Generate account performance and management reports on request or as per schedule.
  • Attend meetings that review client service, service improvements, performance and overall quality of the business process.
  • Creating and maintaining client relationships.
  • The manager is held responsible for desktop support, staff appraisals, service desk, career development and application support.
