Nurses and medical assistants are an important part of society today. Can you imagine how typical it would be for a doctor or a physician to work without the help of an assistant? LPNs (Licensed Practical Nurse) are entry level and basic care assistants and are trained healthcare providers. LPN works in various facilities and performs various basic, necessary and some crucial tasks aimed at better patient care and better treatment. They provide moral support to the patients and help them in movement, change of clothes, feeding and fulfilling their basic needs.

LPN Programs are 1-2 year long and provide classroom and clinical training in various fields. LPN Programs are an effective and easier way to start your earnings and offer reasonably well package when comes to salary. The training programs are inexpensive and salary is good in contrast to work responsibilities and initial investment. LPN works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and help them in preparing medical strategies by assessing the useful information about medical history and any background and hereditary health problem. LPN continuously keeps a track of the medication process and recovery of the patient. They record vital signs like body temperature, blood pressure and closely investigate patient's condition in absence of physicians.

Eligibility for LPN programs:-

  • Candidate must be at least 18 years older.
  • Candidate must be a High School Graduate or must be holding an equivalent certification.
  • A clear background is necessary and he/she must be both physically and medically fit to carry the duties of a Practical Nurse.

The training programs are flexible and operate in various shifts. Students can opt for regular training course, night classes or for a weekend training course. There are many LPN-RN bridging programs offered in the state for continuous education programs and higher certification course. The average salary of a LPN in the state is $46000 per year and they can also earn on an hourly wage scale of $18 per hour. The certification examination is NCLEX-PN and the authorizing committee is Pearson-Vue. The state nursing board does not play any role in certification examination but keeps record of the certified LPNs in the state and keep an eye on expiration date of the LPN and notify them for renewal of the certification. The license holds for 2 years and then a renewal is required for continuing as a practical nurse. The examination fee is $200 and $100 additional application fee. License Renewal fee is $100 and paid to Pearson-Vue on every renewal of the license.

Though there is lesser number of training facilities in the state yet 1000 students approximately confer from these training programs each year. You can enroll in an accredited online training program also. There are number of training programs offered online by various nationally accredited universities.
