Career Colleges of America is a Southern California college that offers a vocational nursing program, as well as programs in medical assisting, paralegal, computerized accounting and more!
When unemployment goes up, enrollment in community colleges also tends to increase. Commonly referred to as one of the few "recession-proof" occupations, medical assistant careers provide job security and excellent income potential for anyone seeking financial stability in these tough economic times. According to the US Department of Labor, employment of medical assistants is expected to grow 35 percent from 2006 to 2016, much faster than the average for all occupations. As the health care industry expands because of technological advances in medicine and shifts in government health care policies, there will be an increased need for all types of health care workers and greater demand for quality medical assistant programs across the country. Increasing demand of medical assistants in the rapidly growing health care industry will further stimulate job growth.
For example, projections data from the National Employment Matrix report opportunities for diagnostic medical sonographer jobs as favorable with a projected growth of 19 percent by 2016 (the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects an increase from 46,000 jobs in 2006 to 54,000 in 2016). Studies also show a growing interest among career-minded individuals looking for local vocational nursing schools in Southern California.
I spoke with a recent graduate from the surgical technology program at Career Colleges of America who now works closely with registered nurses and surgeons in a Los Angeles hospital surgery room, and she says that she definitely feels the program effectively prepared her as a surgical technologist in this exciting, growing industry, and that she highly recommends it to anyone seeking a meaningful, promising career.
