Following 2009's recession, the public image of blue chip, multinational organisations took something of a dent. Swathes of redundancies coupled with generous bonuses for CEOs, made big brands an easy scapegoat for those looking for answers amidst the gloomy economic downturn. Working for a huge firm does have its benefits however, and for those who survived the recession, blue chip companies can offer very competitive employment packages.

Working for a bank, insurance group or health organisation often comes with added bonuses such as health and life insurance. Companies with hundreds of employees can strike up a deal with healthcare providers which can result in generous discounts on first class dental treatment and other health packages. Life insurance in particular is especially important for any individual who owns a home, has dependants or owes any outstanding debts. In this case, blue chips might meet their employees half way and match insurance payments to make up the full monthly premium.

As well as insurance, many blue chip workers will benefit from a company car with the cost of fuel often included. For employees who travel to work via public transport, large firms may also be able to negotiate a discount rate for employees travelling via tube, bus or taxis. For those especially high up in firms, chauffeur services are not unheard of; ensuring the business heads of the company are transported safely and securely from one destination to the next.

While a chauffeur might seem a little over the top for those working on the lower rungs of the blue chip ladder, there's still plenty of benefits available. For example, blue chip organisation Sky are well known to treat their employees to Christmas presents which are chosen from a glossy catalogue sent out to every member of staff in their call centres. Mobile phone providers T-Mobile and Vodafone are also known to treat their staff to free handsets and monthly packages that allow them to make cheap international mobile calls and surf the net for a greatly reduced price.
