Villanova University-Roman Catholic Augustinian School

Villanova University is a Roman Catholic, Augustinian school. The school was founded in 1842 by Augustinian monks. The school is, however, open to students of all religious affiliations and backgrounds. The University is broken up into four main schools, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the School of Business, the Engineering College and the Nursing College.

The University has long been heralded one of the top institutions for higher education in the country and continues to receive awards and mentions each year. There are less than two hundred and seventy colleges and universities that are proud to have a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, Villanova is among the ranks. The school encompasses about 254 acres of land with its sixty classroom, laboratory, administrative and maintenance buildings.

With roughly sixty five hundred students, Villanova University has one of the most diverse student bodies in the country. There are individuals from forty five states in the United States and Puerto Rico and from forty eight foreign countries. Current full time staff is 545, making the ratio of professors and administrators eleven to one.

The University enjoys a prosperous and exciting athletic program. Ranked as a Division one school, there are over twenty sports that students can choose to participate in, on campus. The Villanova sporting stadium seats sixty five hundred students, alumni and fans. On the annual Alumni weekend, former students and their families visit the campus and cheer on the Wildcat football team, backing the navy blue and white all the way.

Students are given the option to get a laptop computer as part of their tuition package. Wireless access points are located all over the campus, giving students access to online services virtually anywhere on the school grounds. This has helped the school achieve status and rank as one of the top fifteen most wired schools in the country.

This is extremely helpful for those students who cannot afford one prior to beginning their journey at Villanova University. With nearly eighty percent of the students who qualify for financial aid receiving grants from the school, Villanova continues to strive to give anyone who wants a post-secondary education the opportunity to excel.

Villanova University carries on its time honored traditions and commitment to service. Each year, the largest Special Olympics Festival in the world. The student body organizes the event and welcomes Special Olympians and their families who return annually for decades. The University is dedicated to the betterment of individuals near and far.
