The other detail people often forget to mention is that the money they are earning actually doesn't come from teaching English. This might sound a little bit strange but you will occasionally see people on forums posting about how much money they make while in Taiwan. More often than not they actually do some private work on the side which explains why they are able to make so much money. The work they do on the side might not even be related to teaching.
