A receptionists role although not excellently paid is a very important one within a company. Receptionists are often the glue that holds a company together. They are the first point of contact for most visitors and clients entering the building and so always need to look presentable and be extremely pleasant to all those who are coming in. Receptionists need to be able to be confident enough to converse with these people and take the appropriate action as to where to show them and who to notify that they are present.
There are lots of reception jobs available all the time, as people come and go and they are always necessary within companies, therefore they are extremely necessary and are always needed.
Holiday entitlement is often the average for any company and secretaries usually work Monday to Friday with normal nine to five hours. Personal Assistants however will often have to attend events with their boss, go away on business trips and meetings with them and work late nights and weekends if need be. Obviously this will be rewarded with higher remuneration than the standard secretary would get.
Secretaries do not need any specific qualifications that require you going to university for years and years. They need to be extremely computer literate and have excellent spelling and grammar and communication skills. They will be extremely organised, efficient, and forward thinking. They will have excellent time management skills and will work very hard in order to keep their boss and company one step ahead.
To conclude, reception jobs are paid very basically but there is room to grow and for those who work really hard and perhaps become a personal assistant to the director of a large company, then the salary is endless and they really do start to become irreplaceable and a serious fixture within the company.
