Assessing Your Progress At Work

Assessing your progress at work is about focusing on your goals. Each one of us has some goals professionally. These goals could be short-term or long-term goals. If you feel that your goals are too overwhelming to achieve within the desired time-frame, then you need to take them one at a time at a slower pace.

The best part about having goals is that you can set specific time periods to achieve them. Here's how you can assess your goals and your progress at work:

-Visualize - The first thing you need to do to assess your goals or progress is to visualize them and the subsequent success. When you visualize something, it actually works as an affirmation. You are affirming something into your life. This method works well towards assessing your progress.

-Develop A Plan - To assess your progress, the most important thing you need to do is have a plan. Progress without a plan is nothing but chaos. Develop a plan that will guide you through your process of assessing progress. It can include matching goals with the set targets and actual work done. Remember that your plan of action is your guide, so create one that you can follow.

-Assess Your Progress - This is the time to actually get to work. You need to note down your accomplishments of the last year. Then is the time to question what is different in the current year. Be aware of all the things you have accomplished as well. Your accomplishments give you a sense of confidence, and help you achieve your goals in a better manner. They also give you a sense of focus.

-Get Direction - Once you have assessed your progress, you need to have some direction to improve things. An employee without direction is considered to be useless. Direction, along with a plan, is needed for you to progress in the workplace - one without the other is pointless. Remember that your plan and direction need to be in sync.

-Get Support - You need someone to support you. It doesn't have to be a mentor, but having one is great. If you can't get a mentor, then you can have a progress partner, someone who helps you with progress and goal setting. You could be work buddies and support each other.

To help you with your goals and progress, you can even hire someone, such as a career or life coach, if you have the extra cash to spare. Don't think of this as money wasted; think of it as money well spent and as an investment.

The tips above will be a big help in assessing your progress at work and achieving your goals.
