If you are a technical person and loves technical challenges, heavy equipment industry will be the right place for you to be. Today the heavy equipment industry is booming and has a large requirement for skilled personnel. There is a severe need for various positions in this filed. Apart from other post, a technician is also a person who forms an integral part of the team. With the increase in the automotive, construction and mining industry, the demand for manufacturing unit has risen.
As a technician, you handle, maintain, and repair the machines and tools. You need to handle several responsibilities as a technician, however to get better job prospects, you need to hold a trade certificate from a reputed institution. If you do not have a trade certificate, you at least should be a certified journey person or registered apprentice. If you have any of the above, you have a better chance than others to get into this industry.
To grow as heavy equipment technician, you need to be a healthy and strong person. You also need to fulfill the following characteristics to get a job.
. You need to have good vision and be free of any sensory or hearing problems
. You need to have good stamina and physical strength.
. Should be able to think logically and analyze to problems.
. Should be a team player, be a self-starter, and know to work independently.
. Should have sound mechanical knowledge and have interest in all types of machinery electronics, engines, and other heavy equipments.
. Be able to work under pressure and under any given situation.
The working conditions for a technician vary from every project. At times, you work in a modern hi tech laboratories while at times you work in cramped places and in an awkward situations. You should also be prepared to work on industrial and construction sites. There are times when you need to complete the work in given period and bad weather cannot stop you from completing your work. There can be lot of traveling, depending upon the project. This work does not have a fixed work schedule. The hours of work also, differ from project to project.
A technician's job is quite challenging and tough. Not everyone can survive in this industry. Apart from repair work, you need to possess analytical skills. You need to maintain and lubricate the equipments on regular basis. Should be able to diagnose problems in the machine and fix it. You may be required to test manufactured equipment, and write reports. You should check whether machines and tools are manufactured as per specifications, and maintain the standards.
A technician's job is responsible, and needs skilled and knowledgeable people. With the growth in the heavy equipments industry, there is a tremendous rise in the number of technicians required. The industry has great offers for aspiring technicians and pays handsome salary along with a secured future. There are great benefits to earn along with festive bonus and welfare policies. This job is not for everyone and need strong, passionate men who simply love to play experiment with technology. If you think you have it in you, you know where you have to be.
