Bahrain is a tiny island nation in the Gulf, but defying its size, the economy of the nation is the fastest growing among other Gulf countries. Its strategic location, off the coast of Saudi Arabia, and its oil reserves have made the country a commercial hub in the region. Now, the country has diversified into many other sectors such as finance and tourism and the sole reliance on oil is no more there. This has extremely helped Bahrain weather through tough economic times. This has also opened up many career opportunities in Bahrain in various sectors. Jobs in Bahrain are quite popular among expatriates looking to make a high-paying career.

Bahrain is a vibrant and modern city that is growing very fast. The country has given its women the right to vote and work and this has considerably improved its international standing. Other than that too, Bahrain is an affluent, lively city that offers its residents attractive lifestyle. Owing to this, the tourism in the city has also considerably improved.

The share of revenue generated by the tourism sector is growing. While petroleum remains to be the mainstay of the economy, other sectors such as tourism are showing immense potential. The hospitality of the people in the country makes it a popular choice for tourists visiting the Arab peninsula. There are many tourism jobs in Bahrain that are advertised for the foreign workforce. The developing, modern communication and transport facilities have given a push to this industry. A large number of multi-national firms have set shop in Bahrain. With such an expansion, Bahrain is now diversifying not just economically but population wise as well. Tourism jobs in Bahrain are regularly advertised in newspapers, job portals and through recruitment agencies.

Other popular sector in Bahrain is the banking industry. Bahrain is the financial hub of the Gulf and all big international banks have their branches in Bahrain. There are banking jobs in Bahrain across all functions and experience levels. Though local Bahrainis are also hired for many jobs, that is not enough to meet the growing demand in the industry. Expatriates are welcome to take up jobs in various positions. Those who have exposure in the international banking scene are preferred and given jobs at high salaries in the banking sector in Bahrain.

Other than these teaching jobs are also becoming popular in Bahrain. With so many expatriates coming to Bahrain with their families to take up jobs, the demand for international schools for children has also risen. These schools primarily cater to the children of the expatriates in Bahrain. The syllabus followed is as per the international norms. To teach in these schools, there is requirement for qualified teachers who are familiar with the international syllabus and education system. Thus, there is a huge scope for teaching jobs in Bahrain. Teachers with experience in American or British schools are preferred. There is demand for English, math, science teachers. English teachers are otherwise also welcomed in Bahrain. These teachers can take up private teaching jobs for training locals in English too. Since English is the language of communication between locals and expatriates and language of most of the business transactions, it is important that the locals be trained in this language. There are many language schools too that cater to this demand. Consequently, English teachers can hope to enjoy a good career in Bahrain.

Bahrain treats its foreign workforce with care and foreigners get easily absorbed into the mainstream. However, one has to approach any Gulf country with an open mind and has to remain prepared to see many cultural changes. The society is less free as compared to western countries and at places alcohol may not be allowed. Thus, it is important to know about the culture and the lifestyle of the place in advance before deciding to relocate there to take up any job. Jobs in Bahrain are quite lucrative and pay high salaries to deserving expatriates. Salaries are the biggest attraction that pull foreign workforce into Bahrain. The best part is that all salaries are tax-free and whatever one earns is for one to keep. This leads to high savings for expatriates. At the end of the contract, a good ‘thank you' sum is also given to outbound expatriates as a token of appreciation.
