Career Planning Tips – a Practical and Helpful How-To Guide

Posted: Sep 13, 2010 |Comments: 0 |

The modern epoch dictates fierce conditions of competition in the world labor market, so every individual has to approach the topic of career planning with responsibility and thoughtfulness. The present article aims at giving a couple of pieces of advice to help young people get a proper direction in career planning, acquire certain skills and pay attention to details at which they would have never turned their attention.

What Is Successful Career Planning?

1. The first rule that a professional has to follow is that continuous learning is the main precondition of success. A genuine specialist will never stop his or her education on graduation from a higher educational establishment; there are always some innovations in every field of work, so everyone has to attend training courses, read about the novelties and keep track of changes in the area to remain successful.

2. The most fruitful period of learning comes in the first months of employment. Academic learning is surely important, but the practical work always conceals some differences from classroom knowledge. Hence, it is essential to assume that one knows less than he or she would like to, and never be ashamed of asking colleagues for help and clarification.

3. Build your career ambitions around your strengths. It is no use trying to build a career in the area one knows nothing about; thus, one should assess his or her own possibilities first and then think of how to improve them to achieve the stipulated goal.

4. One should always keep connected. The introvert type of character is good for certain purposes, but it will never help in career planning. Listening to friends and acquaintances, finding out about their experience in work may be highly helpful for building a successful career.
