The practice of alternative healing has not exactly been proven by scientific research, although this healing technique is effective and quite beneficial for some patients. Alternative healing techniques are based on beliefs that are surrounded by spiritual, religious, metaphysical and other techniques that are in conflict with Western healing practices.

Careers in alternative healing are gaining popularity, thanks to the unconventional healing techniques. There are a variety of healing careers that you can pursue which range from Chinese medicine and Reiki, to Ayurveda, homeopathy and herbal medicine.

Given below are some of the careers in alternative healing.

-Reiki: Reiki is the ancient practice of channeling the energy of one person to another person in order to relieve stress. However, in order to start a career in Reiki, you've got to train for it first. There are many Reiki instruction schools that can help in this aspect, to fulfill your dreams to becoming a Reiki teacher. You can charge your clients an hourly rate of three figures.

-Massage Therapist: Another sought-after career in alternative healing is massage therapy. This alternative healing technique is giving traditional doctors a run for their money. Massage therapy is known to reduce muscle pain, make the body more flexible, control the blood pressure and relieve the body of stress.

What's even more enticing is that patients are more than ready to shell out big bucks for just one session of massage therapy. Prestigious universities like Harvard have even included massage therapy into their healthcare programs.

-Acupuncture: Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese healing technique that is about 3,000 years old. This traditional healing technique is known to heal a variety of problems, such as disorders related to eyes, nose, ears, throat, respiratory diseases and arthritis problems.

As a practitioner, you can also recommend the usage of herbs and change in diet practices. The annual income of a certified acupuncturist is anywhere between $30,000 and $100,000.

-Energy Healing: Energy healing ensures the proper flow of energy throughout the body that is channeled by the practitioner. The courses that assist include crystal healing, touch therapy, chakra balancing, meditation and color therapy. Most of these healing techniques require certifications and degrees.

Many alternative healing practices require licenses in some states. Some states prescribe the number of hours to be practiced by a practitioner and proof of training (certificates) in order to ensure that the person is a certified professional.

The above mentioned career options in the alternative healing business are only some of the many options that are available. A career in alternative healing offers many financial and person rewards.
