ing out things for increasing the size of the resume is of no use and would not serve any purpose.
Expert tip #2:
Summing up the time-
Make sure that you carefully reveal the gaps in between your jobs without hiding anything. This is paid attention to because it is not fair on your part to start your new job with a lie and which, if caught, could put you in a very embarrassing position.
Professional resume tips #2 :
Adding up the time
A lot of resume writers are concerned about whether or not to ‘fudge’ the dates of their jobs in order to make a seamless chronology of their work history. HR people would like to know the reason for the gap between the jobs and what you did in the meantime. For example, you might have had a kid or would not have been fit to work- whatever may be the reason, you should reveal it.
Expert tip #3:
Discussing positions held-
You can discuss the positions held by you which might have been similar to the one you are applying for right now. You need to disclose the period of each position that you have held for the reference of the HR professional and you need to provide the necessary certificates for the same.
You need to declare the position held by you and the particular titles that you were referred to with.
Expert tip #4:
Previous credentials-
You will have to provide the HR professionals with all the details regarding the previous jobs that you have held and all related credentials. Lead with a strong profile section detailing the scope of your experience, skill sets, key responsibility areas. Reverse chronological employment history emphasizing achievements in the past few years. Educational qualifications need to be moved to the top for fresh graduates. Other related topics include professional affiliations, community activities, technical expertise, and languages spoken.
Expert tip #5:
Horror of the cover letter-
Cover letters are letters that accompany your resume to the recruiter to introduce yourself and your resume to him. It is the first document from you that your recruiter would read. There is no standard format as such for cover letters. You have to write in such a way that you easily grab the attention of the recruiter without giving him a chance to think that you are trying deliberately to snatch his attention. Each word and sentence should be able to create an interest in the recruiter about you.
The cover letter must point out that you are very keen to take up the job and give it your best.
Expert tip #6:
Editing matters-
This cannot be emphasized enough. Poor grammar and misspelled words cause a potential employer to question your attention to detail and the quality of your work. With a sea of applicants to select from why should they bother with an individual with a poor resume? Remember your resume is your personal promotional brochure. After checking your resume for grammar and spelling, ask some of your friends or colleagues take a look at it. With each viewing and edit your resume becomes more polished and will be more successful at its purpose- bringing you to employers' attention.
