Dating is Similar to Looking for a Job!

Locate an excellent job and an excellent spouse: The methods for successfully doing these searches are probably more similar than you would have thought! This month's job search advice will compare the process of finding a working partner with that of finding a potential spouse.

Rule Number One :

DATE LIKE YOU MEAN TO WED! Even if it's not appealing initially, give it a chance. Even if early on there appears that there isn't enough money or growth, that you're dealing with the wrong company, people, and product, discussion could still end up with you being offered the career opportunity of your dreams. With further investigation, however, all fears were assuaged and solutions were made which led into a position offering growth and abundant opportunities. Don't eliminate yourself from contention. Take time to discuss the issue thoroughly. Take charge. You should aggressively pursue opportunities. It's critical to go to the good ones yourself, rather than waiting for them to come to you.

COME AT THEM WITH ALL YOU’VE GOT! You don't need to accept all the proposals that come your way, but if they know how valuable you could be to them, your chances of success will go up sharply. Being highly qualified doesn’t mean that you got the job; the most important thing is to be able to transmit your qualities to the company. Don't assume that your background and experience will speak for themselves: you need to be your own advocate. Strive to be the best! Let them know that you're the answer to the problems they're having.

ON THE FIRST DATE, AVOID MARRIAGE TALK! A popular topic that everyone wants to talk about is money. Do not broach this subject. I realize that it is tempting. Attempt to present your skills and qualifications so they match well with the needs of the organization. The best time to talk about a price for your services is after you and your employer-to-be have found common ground.

DON’T ACCEPT EVERY SINGLE PROPOSAL! Don't think of it as wasted time, but as an opportunity to build relationships. Even if it doesn't work out, this experience can still benefit you and that prospective employer, as you move on to another opportunity that may suit you better.

Best of all could be the surprises that lie ahead. You might find a more desirable job than you ever would have thought possible...and a more desirable mate as well!
