The number of car users’ increases year on year, since the driving age limit has been 17, a majority of 17 year olds start learning to drive and hope to pass their test within their first attempt and year. In order to support the number of teenagers learning to drive, a lot of driving instructors have started setting up companies and franchises to teach students to drive.
Becoming a driving instructor has also been much easier than in the past, there a plenty of driving schools which encourage people to start learning as a driving instructor as well as encouraging people to work on a self-employed basis.
The salary earned within this industry can range from £16,000 for newly qualified instructors to £35,000+ per annum depending on the location of where the driving instructor is based and also the number of lessons provided. Over the years, the prices of fuel have increased, therefore leading to an increase in the price of lessons per hour. Although some driving companies have a set rate of prices per lesson, a majority have introduced bulk ordering allow further discounts to new learner drivers that order 10 or more lessons at once.
The role of a driving instructor is to teach people the correct way of driving a car, driving on the roads and important car information, such as where the engine is, the radiator, checking the engine oil etc. It is the driving instructor’s responsibility to ensure the safety of the learner driver as well as other car drivers and pedestrians ensuring the student are not driving recklessly. The costs of being a driving instructor are all incurred on running the car such as the fuel, any maintenance of the car, the extra safety the car requires such as dual steering and brake pedals. The shifts of a driving instructor can vary; some can work from morning till evenings depending on how many students the driving instructor has and the number of lessons the students take.
There are plenty of driving schools looking to recruit for new driving instructors, to become one there will be training costs involved however all can be earned back after starting up. As long as the person is willing to train as a driving instructor, do not mind teaching others and have a valid license as well as being at a minimum age of 21 to be a licensed trainee, then anyone can easily apply for the job and train for the role.
