1. Registered nurse

Nurses are are going to be needed no matter what the economy does. With people living longer and the "Baby Boomers" coming of age the demand for RN's is only going to increase. This is a very secure occupation and you can branch out into may other medical related areas.

Training: A bachelor's or associate degree, completion of a nursing program. You must also pass a licensing examination in order to get your license. You will need additional schooling if you want to get into specific fields. A great choice for economy proof jobs. Salary can range from $30,000 to $70,000

2. Teacher

One of the things that happens during a recession is while folks are waiting for the economy to turn around they are deciding that now may be a good time to improve their education so that they are better prepared when things pick up again. Good teachers are always in need. Also if you are well versed in a particular field you may add tutoring to the list of economy proof jobs.

Still another fine option of economy proof jobs is in Dentistry. Dental assistants is another area that is showing no signs of dying down soon. Between cleanings, whitening and gum care, this field is sure to keep growing at the high rate it is now. It will require a 2 year degree. But a lot of the classes you take can be applied to other fields of interest. You can expect to make on average $30,000
