Dubai has become a magnet for expatriates looking for lucrative jobs in the Gulf. Dubai jobs in various industries attract people from across Asia, Europe, and North America etc. The number of expatriates who relocate to Dubai each year for work is quite high. Dubai offers not just high-salary jobs but amazing and luxurious lifestyle to these people. Dubai has witnessed immense growth in all fields in the last decade and a half. Whether it is infrastructure, hospitality or the healthcare department, the kind of development that Dubai has witnessed over the years is incredible. Talking of healthcare jobs in Dubai, it is truly world-class.

The quality of health care offered in Dubai is high standard mostly and at par with that offered in the developed places like Western Europe and the USA. It is only in the highly specialised treatment that the city hospitals lack. So, people prefer traveling outside Dubai to get treated. Since Dubai's population is not that huge and the medical facilities offered by the public and the private players are adequate, there are never long waiting lists of patients waiting to receive treatment or get their surgeries done. For expatriates too, the healthcare facilities are good. There are some international healthcare units too that have set foot in Dubai and offer state-of-the-art medical facilities.

Owing to Dubai's small population and the numerous medical facilities in the private and public sectors, long waiting lists are almost unheard of. Most of the hospitals are equipped with all modern medical equipment. Most of the staff in these hospitals and medical centers is generally from outside Dubai. Only a small proportion of doctors and medical staff are local. The rest are all foreigners who were trained in their home countries and have come to Dubai to take up hospital jobs.

Dubai has a public health service system that provides either free healthcare or very low cost facilities for nationals. These free services are also available to expatriates and their families. Now, there is a drive in Dubai to encourage people to take up medical insurance schemes. All employers are also encouraged to provide healthcare insurance to employees. This will ease the burden on the government. Tourists who come to Dubai on leisure should have travel insurance.

Thus, if you are expatriate who has taken up a job in Dubai, it would be advisable that you check with your employer about the healthcare insurance before relocating to the city. If you are coming to stay with your family, ensure that all the members get covered in the insurance scheme. Most employers include the healthcare insurance in the employment contract. Some don't. So, it is advisable to check before you join the job. Most expatriates face medical problems related to alcoholism and also respiratory problems because of the climate in Dubai. Also, the scale of construction work that is going on in Dubai also leaves the environment filled of dust and sand at times which leads to respiratory problems. Then, there are other problems too. Hence healthcare insurance is a must.
