I typed "I want to quit my teaching job" for the tenth time into the search engine on my computer and waited for the results. I had been working as a teacher for over 24 years and the last two years I'd spent at a title 1 school. Over my career in education, teaching has become more and more frustrating because of policy changes, cultural shifts, and the pressure "No Child Left Behind" put on schools. Our school was not tracking well and the fear that we would not make our AYP made things tense. I needed to know how to quit teaching and so I waited at my computer terminal for an answer or at least a little hope.
Frustrations
On top of these frustrations, the students had very little respect for the staff and the administration pressured us to not refer students to the office. "I want to quit my teaching job" was a phrase that kept ringing over and over in my mind growing more strident each day. The problem was that I was pretty clueless as to how to quit teaching even though I really felt I needed to. I researched new careers but the cost and time to change careers and the lack of excitement at the choices did not inspire me.
Be your own boss
The one thing I knew for sure was that I was ready to be my own boss and do away with evaluations and pressures that come with teaching. I was aware of the get-rich-quick, and work-from-home offers on the Internet that promised wildly successful self-employment, but frankly I was very skeptical of these offers. So I spent discouraged evenings typing "I want to quit my teaching job" into search engines in the bleak hope that something new would pop onto my computer screen.
Today I am my own boss, earning my money from Internet marketing, and here are the steps on how I quit teaching.
Step 1
Find a neutral place to learn about Internet marketing. There are places that are not set out to rope you into some scheme that ends up taking your money but giving you nothing in its place. You should expect to pay something but it should be for quality information that provides you with an opportunity to learn the ropes to becoming your own boss.
Step 2
As you learn you can put what you learn into practice. You can develop your Internet business while you are still teaching. That way you can not take the risk of quiting your job with no income coming in.
Step 3
As you Internet earnings start to increase put them back into the business and any profits beyond that you should put them into a savings account. Once you have a years salary worth of savings it is time to quit teaching and go full time into Internet Marketing. If you just increase your life style as you make profits you will not be able to quit teaching so it is important to put your profits into a savings account.
The bottom line
The bottom line to why I quit teaching was to be my own boss. It is true that even when I first started teaching, I loved it, but still I would have always loved to be my own boss and teach at the same time.
