How To Save Your Job In 6 Easy Steps. Step 5 - Turn The Tables

Posted: Mar 10, 2010 |Comments: 0 |

This is probably one of the sneakiest of the steps, provided that you haven't already gotten to the point where you've told your boss you're moving on.

The reason I have left this as step 6 is because it requires a bit of finesse and cunning and not everybody is cut out for this kind of trickery and brownnosing. Truth is, for some people, this tactic is just plain out of the question and thus, they won't do it.

However, if you're not above the old "get more flies with honey than with vinegar" approach, you might want to give this a shot. If nothing else, it will totally baffle your boss.

The next time he says something to you like, "You idiot, you messed up that whole assignment" or whatever, look him straight in the face and say, "Yeah, that was pretty stupid of me. I should have known better." Yeah, it's right out of Dale Carnegie's "How To Win Friends And Influence People" but it works.

Your boss won't know what hit him. He'll be expecting you to come back at him with anger of at the very least with a disgusted look. Instead, you've totally disarmed him. He won't know how to respond.

And then, you can take this tactic one step farther. Walk into his office one day and say, "Hey boss, did I ever show you photos of my family?" And then take out your wallet. Ask to see HIS family.

Right…more Dale Carnegie.

It might be hard for you to swallow, but outside of the real hard cases, this stuff works great.
