The pay looks great, the bonuses are enticing and the altruistic nature of the work is inspiring. What’s not to love about a career in law? Perhaps you would like to be a legal assistant, paralegal or maybe even an attorney. But before you apply to school, seek financial aid and plan out a career, there is one big question. Will I even find a job once I graduate? The answer is yes. A career in the legal field is a great bet for many reasons; the most obvious being the law is here to stay.
Post-schooling, the overall career outlook for attorneys is good. In fact, many law schools make the transition from school to job easy as many institutions partner with large law firms that will hire many graduating seniors. For schools that don’t offer job opportunities through partnerships, law firms understand that admission into any law school is tough and only the best get in, thus, if you make good marks and stay involved you’re almost guaranteed an entry-level position.
Supportive legal careers, such as paralegals and legal secretaries, have even a greater job outlook. Firms are constantly growing and are in constant in need of administrative support. Businesses are also always growing and increasingly in need of help on the corporate side of law. Thus, as a result, many large corporations are constantly looking to hire trained legal professionals.
As of now, the outlook for careers in law is promising. Though, depending on the position you may have to search harder for a job than others. However, interested and committed jobseekers will always find work and once you do all of your patience and dedication will begin to produce its fruit.
