Know Your Weaknesses

“Great ABILITIES produce great VICES as well as VIRTUES.” Greek Proverb

Admission is (weaknesses) not the same as enjoying or embracing something. Major traumas or sickness is usually accompanied initially with DENIAL! And, eventually denial will give way to the reality of what is or has happened. The reason denial has to give way to reality is that we cannot GO ON until we have seen and confess TRUTH! You can’t have a weak heart. There is no free promotion, but there are promotions for those that go the extra mile.

“If you don’t want anyone to KNOW it, simply don’t DO IT” Chinese Proverb

Confessing or acknowledging our weaknesses, however, without action to change it doesn’t do us any good as well. It is just the starting place of victory. Many people will use their “weaknesses” for sympathy or as an excuse to stay in mediocrity. Judging one’s own self is far better than either trying to hide what we know is not perfected or pretending that we have no weaknesses. Employers are high on employees who show an overcoming progress and who prefer other employees.

“Weakness is nourished by concealment”. Latin Proverb

Now, probably one of the hardest things to deal with in this area is not US overcoming our weaknesses or just having knowledge of them; rather, it is having other people tell us of the weaknesses we see that we are not in agreement with. It’s one thing for ME to see my sins, but quite another for someone else to point them out. Worst of all is rebuke from one who themselves are full of vices. If you can take the persecutions, reproaches, and accusations with a grain of salt, try and find the truth in the midst of the thorns, and overcome your “thoughts of anger” then, you are on your way to a life that will produce good fruit. Weaknesses are learned without a master. We can model from others things that will bring shame and demotion; however, there are enough things in all of us that “come with the terri- tory” or are just a part of our nature (and not necessarily that of others).

“After one vice, a greater follows”. Spanish proverb

The employee who knows his or her weaknesses (overachiever or not) will not attempt something that is impossible. The person who knows their weaknesses and doesn’t hide them will be exalted by their humility. And, the person who knows their weaknesses and overcomes them , especially their interview weakness, will surely find PROMOTION!

“A wise man’s question contains half the answers.” Solomon Gabirol

The world is in such a rapid expansion of knowledge that we are close to entering a tipping point that will forever change earth as we know it.

I decided to become an elementary school music teacher. I’ve heard of music teachers that don’t even teach music, who hate their jobs. That is my dream job, and that is what I’m striving to attain.
