Nuclear Jobs, New Openings

As energy costs skyrocket and raw material become more expensive, nuclear energy is becoming a major opportunity.

In England, British Energy, the power utility recently taken over by Electricite de France, has indicated its intention to expand the life of some power plants for another five years. The UK does not seems the only country to contemplate nuclear power, Bahrain's Electricity and Water Affairs Minister has affirmed that the emirate is planning to achieve a nuclear power plant by 2017.
At the start of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) board of governors symposium in Vienna, Austria 2009, the director general Mohamed ElBaradei explained that more work still needs to be done to improve nuclear safety and security around the globe. He also told the meeting that expectations for the use of nuclear power continue to rise, with growth targets being expanded in China and Russia. Asia remains the focus of development in nuclear power and the ending of restrictions on India's nuclear trade should allow a boost of its planned expansion of nuclear power.

The colloquium also addressed issues such as the institution of multinational processes independent from the politics of the member states in order to make sure that all member states could easily obtain nuclear fuel and reactor technology, and, following a petition by Russia, a proposal for a low enriched uranium reserve to be used by member states was circulated. The proposal submited by the IAEA provides assured export licences and covers all long-term costs.

Attractive salaries for nuclear jobs
Although some workers in the nuclear sector still think that they are under- paid and under-recognised for the work that they do, other reckon, especially at director level that the pay packages for nuclear jobs are very interesting compared with the other industries.
Compounded with future requirements as the industry is expanding whilst the skills are scarce, this will create a salary strain on a diminishing pool of highly competent workforce and drive the earnings up. The future looks interesting for nuclear jobs.
