Passing the Police Screening Test

  • Mar 18, 2009
I wanted to talk to you about passing the police screening test. I like to refer to this as screening test because it's a hoop that they want you to jump through in order to become an officer. When there are jobs available for the police, a lot of people apply. The police have a very well respected career with benefits, so it is always popular. But when you have hundreds of people applying for just one job you need a way to cut down on the number good applicants and that is done through screening. Most people will fail their test, so you definitely need a leg up on the competition. I'm going to talk to you about passing the police screening test. Surprisingly the examination you go through isn't hard, but it's quite different than what you would experience in a high school test. You're going to be challenged logically and you'll have to demonstrate a police instinct. What that means is that you have to be able to pick up on subtle information that most people may not recognize. As you study, you'll know what you need, but you should practice on the little things in your life. Another aspect of passing the police screening test is mug shots. Looking at pictures of people and going out to find them is what a police officer does. Sometimes this is hard, but you have to get used to identifying people from mug shots. Practice is important and trust me there are ways of doing it. Looking at your high school yearbook and identifying those pictures with the people you see today will work.
