Unemployed people are naturally desperate to get a job, more so if they have bills to be paid or a family to take care of. The Internet is an excellent source of job-related information. However, in your quest for a job, you might come across certain job sites that demand payment for access to job information. The question might arise: is it necessary to pay for job information?
Ultimately, it is up to you to decide, but you might be relieved to know that there is no need to pay. You can be successful at gaining access to any amount of job information absolutely free of charge. While it is entirely up to you to pay or not to pay for access, you are advised not to pay for job information that is, anyway, easily available free of charge.
Online Versions of Local Newspapers
There are many options open to people who have absolutely no inclination to pay for job information. You can do a thorough Internet search to find out if the local newspaper has an online version. Due to the rising popularity of the Internet, several newspapers, even local ones, now have online versions. The online editions of these newspapers might have an online employment section.
Check out the employment section of the online version of any local newspaper. Compare the online version of the employment section with the print version. If you find that the print version is more up-to-date than the online version, you might have to consider spending a few cents to purchase a local newspaper and study the job listings there.
Online Job Portals
Online job portals, sometimes called "job hunting" or "career hunting" websites, also offer their services free of charge. Monster and CareerBuilder are just two examples; there are many more. You can register at these websites, which permit you to post your resume on them, absolutely free. You might even receive calls from prospective employers who view your resume here. In addition, the job portals allow you to browse through any number of jobs and apply online for as many as you wish.
Disadvantages of Paid Websites
Many job websites that demand payment to give you access to their job information don't permit you to apply online through their websites, an advantage that is offered by job portals such as Monster and CareerBuilder. You aren't even provided the contact details of the prospective employers. The reason is that these paid websites are not directly associated with hiring employers.
In addition, most paid websites are scams. The people who run these websites easily find the same information that you are required to pay for by doing a simple Internet research without paying a cent. You have to spend only a little effort and time to find same information without having to spend a cent on it, and this is possible for you to do.
The only time you should ever pay for job information is when you purchase a local newspaper to browse through its employment section
