StudentScholarships.org - A career as a Master Chef

Posted: Dec 27, 2009 |Comments: 0 |

The dream job for me is to one day become a Master Chef. I have done a lot of research on this particular field and after being asked many times what kind of chef I really wanted to be and knowing what hard work comes along with it, I have decided on this as a career. I know that it takes at least twenty years of working in the field in many different areas.

According to StudentScholarships.org, the final test to get your certification is two weeks long, cost hundreds of dollars, and is only given to some of the best. I have a strong passion and I am willing to put that much time into it. I can see the big picture now; myself, at thirty-eight or thirty- nine just finishing what is needed to get my certification. I then want to be able to take that certification and travel the world to share my skills with students who will be where I am at now.

What I like the most about it is that there are only eight or nine Master Chefs in the entire world; which means that you have to be really good at what you do and strive for greatness since there are also other people who are going for the same certification. I see this as a great challenge and I plan to start on it after I finish my four years at The Arts Institute- Chicago where I will acquire my bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts.

So basically, my dream job is to become a Master Chef and be able to travel the world to help those who, like me, feel that their dream is so hard to reach. Just the thought of one day to be able to encourage somebody to work hard no matter what challenges they may face is a reward in its self, since I haven't had anyone to do that for me.

I also see myself living a comfortable life of traveling. I want to go personally to different countries around the world to study all types of food from its origin. From how it is used in modern dishes now to what it was used for before and the different ways food can be used whether it is for celebration, or maybe even as a medicine. One place I really want this career to take me is Paris, France. I took a small course in French in hopes of going there to do possibly an internship and study under some of the great chefs there. I want to do studying under some of the greatest such as Wolfgang Puck, and Emeril Lagasee. I also want to travel to places such as Greece, Venice, and Germany has always interested me. It amazes me how you can give, for instance, six people the same ingredients and the outcomes can be completely different.

I think traveling makes you become more open-minded about things and you get a chance to see things from a point of view you wouldn't normally see them. I am always willing to be offered a new point of view and to show someone else maybe another way they can do the same thing because life is all about learning.
